My research is focused on understanding the regulation of miRNA function, in particular, the exciting and emerging field surrounding miRNA post-transcriptional control by a family of RNA terminal uridylyl transferases. Revealing the molecular details of these enzymes is critical to our understanding of miRNA maturation and their inhibition by small molecules has potential implications in anticancer drug design. In addition, a molecular dissection of these enzymes and their function in the cell will also further our understanding of stem cell biology with possible applications in stem cell reprogramming and regenerative medicine
